STOP Campaign is held.

June 26, 1963

Led by Hubie Jones and others, it is a one-day boycott to protest racial discrimination, school segregation, and police brutality in Boston. The protest involves African-Americans refraining from going to work, buying goods, and riding on the MTA. The protest also includes a march from Roxbury to Boston Common. Although the Boston Branch NAACP does not officially endorse the campaign, it sponsors a memorial service for Medgar Evers on Boston Common at the same time that helps to attract a combined crowd of some 2,000 people.
